The IMC provides an interdisciplinary forum for sharing ideas relating to all aspects of the Middle Ages.
Organised and administered by the Institute for Medieval Studies at the University of Leeds, since its inception in 1994 the IMC has worked to cultivate the field of medieval studies by bringing researchers from different countries, backgrounds, and disciplines together, providing opportunities for networking and professional development in an open and inclusive environment.
As the largest Congress of its kind in Europe, the IMC regularly attracts more than 2,000 medievalists from all over the world. In addition to the academic programme, the IMC hosts a wide variety of concerts, exhibitions, and excursions, which are open to delegates and the public alike. It also seeks to foster a scholarly community by providing spaces for networking and socialising. This year’s IMC will be the 25th in its history and will take place 2-5 July 2018 on the northern part of the main campus of the University of Leeds.
